The project develops an innovative concept for the digital analysis of complex urban realities and aims to support decision-making for their planning and management. The digital system pairs the main physical subsystems of the city (mobility, service distribution, waste collection, economic system, social system, cultural use, environmental system, etc.) with corresponding simulators based on artificial intelligence models. These simulators interact with each other in the digital world, forming a digital twin of the city itself, continuously learning from multiple sensory sources and updating to represent the state of the physical city in real time. The strategy followed by the project is based on a modular approach: the digital city model can initially be developed for a limited part of the city (such as a neighborhood) and for a small number of subsystems (such as mobility and air pollution), significantly reducing the complexity of the problem and ensuring the development of a simple but functional model.
