Implementation of accessibility services for Olympic and Paralympic pedestrian routes
The project launched by the City of Milan and the National Research Council (CNR) aims to develop and test advanced digital tools for urban planning, specifically to support activities related to the 2026 Paralympics. The agreement calls for the sharing of expertise, data, and technologies to create traffic and urban accessibility simulation models, useful for designing inclusive routes and services. The National Research Council (CNR) contributes its Urban Digital Twin methodology, providing models, algorithms, and digital services capable of analyzing, interpreting, and predicting the evolution of urban systems. The City of Milan integrates these tools with its own urban platforms and policies, contributing expertise in mobility, data interoperability, and the removal of architectural barriers. The three-year project is designed to be scalable and replicable in other cities, and also includes training activities and the involvement of young researchers to support the Public Administration.
