Digital Twins

The Urban Digital Twin – according to the most up-to-date definitions – consists of a series of technological infrastructures that enable virtual representations of cities. The primary goal is to analyze and understand urban dynamics, made possible through the use of advanced models and technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and simulation.
The projects implemented by CISC CNR are based on the GDU definition coined by the European Commission in 2020, from which all the relevant legislation is derived:
“Urban Digital Twins are the virtual representation of a city’s physical assets, processes, and systems, using data, data analytics, and machine learning to support simulation models that can be updated and modified in real time as the physical equivalents change.”
