Florence, November 11-14, 2025: The 22nd edition of Urbanpromo – Projects for the Country took place at the Innovation Center of the Fondazione CR Firenze. Promoted by the National Institute of Urban Planning and organized by the subsidiary company Urbit (Urbanistica Italiana srl).
The event involved a wide range of stakeholders: public administrations, private companies, the third sector, finance, cooperatives, foundations, and large national organizations. The CNR participated in the session “Technopoles – centers of excellence for the development of the national innovation ecosystem, analyzing the state of the art and prospects for cities and the region.” The CNR speakers included: ● Massimo Mari, CNR, Department of Engineering, ICT, Technologies for Energy and Transport: “The CISC for Territorial Integration”; ● Giordana Castelli, CISC Coordinator: “Smart Cities and the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises”; ● Nicola Fantini, CNR Board of Directors, Coordinator of the Enterprise Europe Network: “Experiences and Challenges in the Development of Urban Built Twins: the Collaboration between CNR-IMATI and START4.0 for the Smart City”; ● Michela Spagnuolo, Director of IMATI – Institute of Applied Mathematics and Information Technologies E. Magenes of the CNR.
The goal was to contribute to the public debate during a period marked by major urban developments and critical economic and social issues. The event explored key aspects of urban life, such as social housing, the social and cultural impacts of regeneration, local tourism, and the housing needs of new workers. A focus was placed on the redevelopment strategies of Rome and other Italian cities, as well as urban mobility issues. Urbanpromo also explored environmental and technological issues, including logistics, Energy Communities, the energy-landscape relationship, artificial intelligence, and the development of Technopoles. Several scientific conferences were held on the “making and unmaking” of urban planning and the evaluation of the PNRR. It thus confirmed its role as a key event, aimed at strengthening collective awareness and making planning a truly useful tool for cities.
